I have deer hunted with Dave and Teri twice and cannot wait to do it again this year. Best hunting I have ever had and I am 75 years young and been hunting for 60 years. The accommodations and hospitality provided by Dave and Teri were absolutely first rate plus. They go out of their way to see that your every need is taken care of and seem happy to do it. Not only are they great but the deer hunting is out of this world. I got a great eight point the first year and a beautiful nine point with a drop tine last year. Both white tails. Another wonderful stay at High Prairie Lodge!!! We designed our vacation around getting a couple of nights again at this Bed & Breakfast. I highly recommend to any and all of you! It’s in a beautiful peaceful setting filled with grazing deer, amazing sunsets and the charm of their beautiful home and grounds. The breakfasts as well as the bonus evening desserts are to die for. The owners are so welcoming and wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about this place and I know you’ll feel the same way once you’ve stayed here.

Went with the bucketlist goal of killing a pheasant to mount, got that opportunity then icing on the cake with consistent opportunities at more roosters. Had a blast when Dave and Brett, the owner and guide, jumped in on two duck hunts with us…. snowy day limits of straight green heads. Terri and her meals… goodness you will not go hungry and you are eating a true home cooked meal that feels like thanksgiving dinner every night. Very home like, if you had down time and went to your room to lay low you were never bothered. If you wanted to venture around in the absolutely breathtaking scenery they just told you to enjoy! By the end of day 5 we were very comfortable with Dave, Terri and Brett and would return to their operation for more hunting without hesitation.

I’ve hunted with High Prairie Lodge and Outfitters twice this year. Spring turkey, and Dave got me on a nice tom that is currently at the taxidermist and most recently an archery antelope hunt. I did not kill an antelope but it wasn’t due to lack of opportunity. Dave’s guide had me on antelope every day but that buck I wanted never came within bow range, well, once and I missed the shot. that’s hunting. Beautiful place to stay and hunt and Terri’s cooking cant be beat. Highly recommend and I will return when I can. Thanks Dave and Terri, my wife and I couldn’t have been more satisfied.

My nephew is in the army in Hawaii and wanted to bird hunt in South Dakota this fall. I didn’t know any outfitters in the Black Hills who did bird hunts so I searched the internet and found High Prairie Lodge. We set up a one day hunt on Nov 21st with Dave. What a beautiful sunny fall day it was with a dusting of fresh snow. What a great experience we had with Dave, Lynn, and four amazing bird dogs. I had not bagged a pheasant for about 45 years and was really wondering if I could even hit anything. Dave and Lynn were patient and helpful. The birds were plentiful and soon we had our limit of pheasant and chukar. Thanks for the memories Dave and Lynn – from Matty and Ted.

I recently returned home after spending 3 days at High Prairie Lodge and Outfitters…what a wonderful experience! My hunt required a change of dates, and Teri and Dave graciously accommodated me. Dave and Teri run an impeccable business. When they say you’ll be treated like family, it isn’t a marketing strategy. Teri and Dave are humble, great to be around, and are great conversationalists! The hunting ‘lodge’ is actually run like a B/B, and is actually their home. It is gorgeous, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are large and cozy, and after a long day’s hunt, you’ll have no difficulty falling asleep. Teri is a gourmet cook, and the meals are what you would encounter at any 5-star restaurant; the food is absolutely mouth-watering. They have wonderful, personable staff. Teri also provides sack lunches for each hunter each day of the hunt…to call them ‘sack lunches’ is misleading.

The hunting is terrific, with lots of game. I was on a 3-day archery antelope hunt, and each day saw numerous pronghorns, several of which were large bucks. My guide, Brett, was fabulous. I was set up in comfortable blinds, and Brett always provided me with sound advice about what direction I would likely see animals. It was very clear Dave has done his homework in order for his hunters to see and successfully harvest game. Blinds are located strategically, offering the best opportunity for close shots. I was fortunate to harvest a large buck on my second day hunting. Brett was incredibly helpful dressing the animal and quickly getting it to a local processor, and also gave me great advice about local taxidermists.

After my experience, I have decided to return next season. Dave and Teri are great people, with an outstanding operation. If you are thinking about an antelope/whitetail/mule deer/pheasant/waterfowl hunt, look no further than High Prairie Lodge and Outfitters.

I have hunted all over the country and this is truly a first class operation. The lodge was very comfortable and the food prepared by Teri was fantastic!! As for the turkey hunting, well, I had three tags and I filled all three! I had two guides and Neil was the one I hunted with the most. Their knowledge of the land and the birds was impressive and they actually cared about getting you in the birds. They have TRUE Merriam’s and no hybrids. I will definitely go back and it will probably be next season with my bow! A big THANK YOU to Dave and Teri for their hospitality!

Last week I had the opportunity to stay and hunt with High Prairie Lodge and Outfitters. There is no way in this short review I can begin to describe how well done this experience was. Dave and Teri have achieved a level of professionalism and efficiency that very few outfitters ever achieve. Their business runs like a well-oiled machine, however it’s a machine that makes you feel like you’re a family member taking part in it. My hunt was somewhat of a last-minute archery Antelope hunt when I didn’t draw a tag in Wyoming. When Dave and I finalized my trip, he immediately began working on finalizing our plans, and it was obvious to me that in the two weeks he was given, there was a tremendous amount of preparation that had taken place. Due to the nature of this hunt, specific scouting had to be done and new blinds had to be put in place and it was done to perfection. I was successful in my hunt by taking a very nice South Dakota Pronghorn Antelope on the second morning. Teri, on the other hand, is not going to be outdone by Dave. Teri takes care of the lodge, meal preparation, and I’m sure many other things that I’m unaware of because they are completely seamless and out of the view of the guest. The lodge is not a hunting camp, but a beautiful home that you stay in as their guest and friend. The accommodations are on par with upscale hotels but with much more of a “You’re at Home” feel. Meals are done family style and Teri’s creations would rival any high-end restaurant. I probably gained weight while I was “hunting”. And finally, since I was fortunate enough to finish hunting a day early, Dave took time to show me some of the other properties he and Teri either own and/or manage. Everything they do seems to be for the betterment of the wildlife, land, and our sport. Dave has a background in wildlife management and is very well versed in what needs to be done to create long term habitats for all types of wildlife. I couldn’t have been more impressed with everything they have done and are working on. Many thanks to Dave and Teri for a wonderful trip and to anyone considering hunting with them, there is absolutely no place that I have found that will put together a more complete or better experience for you.

My husband Bob Wieczorek and friend Matt Mcbride visited Dave and Terri’s lodge for the four days of spring turkey 2017. Both killed their turkeys on a semi guided Black Hills hunt on the second day. Dave and his guide Neal went out of their way to make it possible to get on adult birds. Before they arrived Dave had turkeys located for the next morning. He also had at least four or five other locations with pleanty of gobblers for back up spots. The food and accommodations were above exceptional! The dinners Mrs C served were nothing short of gourmet! The whole staff was very friendly and personable. Bob will be heading back in November with his work staff for a pheasant and deer combo hunt and is looking forward to it!
